The 22nd Annual Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic Art Contest is now accepting entries from local young artists. All North Texas students in first through sixth grade are invited to participate. Art contest materials, including the illustration template, can be downloaded online at The deadline to mail in the illustrations is Friday, November 2rd. The winners are determined by a select group of judges and notified by the end of November.

“For more than 20 years now, we have enjoyed engaging with the younger sports fans in the Metroplex through our art contest,” Goodyear Cotton Bowl President Rick Baker said, “We hope that art teachers from across the North Texas community will encourage their students to participate.”

A total of 18 young artists comprising three age categories (first and second grade, third and fourth grade, fifth and sixth grade) will be honored at their respective schools in recognition of their winning works of art. Additionally, each winner will receive tickets to the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018.

Again this year, all participating schools, submitting at least 50 entries, will be entered in a lottery to win prize money. Six schools will be randomly selected and awarded $500 each for art supplies for their respective art programs, even if they don’t have a winning entry, allowing more schools the opportunity to win money for their art programs.

“We want to encourage all elementary school art teachers to participate and make the 22nd  Goodyear Cotton Bowl Art Contest part of their classroom curriculum,” Baker said. “As an incentive, not only can the young artists win tickets and great prizes, but the teachers of winning students are also rewarded for their participation with money for new classroom supplies.”

Throughout the holiday season, the winning artwork will be on display at AT&T Stadium. The artwork will also be featured on the center-hung video board at the stadium during the. Every piece of artwork submitted by students and teachers plays a role in the game week celebration. Guests from both universities that attend the Big Play Luncheon are treated to their own personal piece of artwork. Each illustration is laminated and placed on tables throughout the Chantilly Ballroom of Dallas’ Hilton Anatole Hotel for guests to enjoy during their meal and then take home as unique souvenirs from the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.
