Oklahoma State Completes Second Cotton Bowl Practice
EULESS, Texas – The Oklahoma State football team held its second Texas-based practice for the AT&T Cotton Bowl early Saturday afternoon at Euless Trinity High School. The Cowboys practiced outside in clear, sunny conditions on artificial turf while wearing helmets and pads. Coach Mike Gundy talked with Okstate.com following the workout. His comments:
Coach Mike Gundy
On how the practice went
“We had a good practice today. We had a heavy day with pads and players’ spirits are great. We’ve had a great time so far at the bowl, but they focused in and had a good practice.”
On how he would describe his team to someone who hasn’t seen it play
“I would say we are a sound defense and we’ve improved throughout the year in the kicking game. Offensively, we’ve tried to run the ball and throw the ball down the field, and we’ve accomplished that for the majority of the season.”
On what impresses him about the Cowboys as a whole
“They’ve got good leadership and good work ethic. They’ve gotten better every game since the West Virginia game. That’s all we can ask of them is to improve every day in practice and get better for each game.”
On what impresses him about the defense and the offense
“On defense we’ve been able to force turnovers and take advantage of scoring on defense. On offense we’ve taken care of the ball, for the most part, which gives us a chance to be successful in the end.”
